Born in St. Louis, Missouri, I was raised and educated in Mound City. I got my start as a newsboy stuffing and selling newspapers curbside at the age of 12. Attending Saint Louis University High, I took Russian my four years there. At 17, I took my first trip to Saint Petersburg and experienced the famous White Nights. It would be the first of three extended trips Russia.
Following high school, I spent a year living and studying at Loyola in New Orleans, but returned to St. Louis to finish college at Saint Louis University. I was fortunate to advance my Russian at St. Petersburg State University while enjoying SPB’s 300th anniversary on the banks of the Neva.
After working at the famous Chase Park Plaza hotel, I left to teach English in Slovenia for a year. Ljubljana’s wonderful location gave me the chance to explore central Europe and visit a few of my favorite cities. Now, I live, work, and study at the University of Toronto where I am a Doctoral Candidate in Political Science.
